Given the mass of the bed, I want to be able to break it down easily for movement. Therefore I’m planning to use this steel bed hardware from Rockler to attach the side rails to the headboard and foot piece. My friend Dick helped me build a simple router jig to cut the mortises for the hardware. After some trial and error we dialed in the correct depth of cut, and I was then able to locate and cut a more precise test on a piece of pine.
